Quicktime under 10.5.1
When I try to export, I do select quicktime (self contained) but when I actually tell it to export, I only get a small 8k .mov file instead of the video. When I try to play this small file in Quicktime, the program opens but no video plays, no sound, etc. It is the same as if I opened quicktime manually.

If QuickTime Player can open the files but just can't play them, try using the Show Movie Inspector command (command-I). It may tell you in better detail what format the audio & video are in. Thanks for the idea. QT does open the file, sort of. Looks like an audio file, no video pane. But no sound comes out of it

Question on video MPEG, burning DVDs
I'm new to putting video on-line, so comments on fixes or improvements would be welcome. I've had the same situation when viewing QT on my site on machines without the QT plug-in. Windows Media Player jusmps in and plays the sound, but no picture. I'd rather it just failed or showed a broken plug-in icon.

iMovie export question
You may not have the correct CODEC and/or player software to actually play the file properly. An example is trying to play a recent MOV video file with an outdated version of Quicktime. You may get sound, but no video. It is also possible that the file itself may not have been correctly made.

It plays only real media well - both sound and video. For quicktime, video plays well but muted. For windows media, the video is OK but the sound is noise. Anyone else having this problem ? TIA.
